We started our investigation by conducting a keyword and reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a post on BJP’s official Twitter handle from 3 April 2019 that matched the frames of the viral video. The caption states, “Electrifying atmosphere at PM Shri @narendramodi’s public meeting in Kolkata”.

PM Modi’s official handle, too, had tweeted the video on 3April 2019, with the same caption, stating that the video was shot in Kolkata.
On 3 April, 2019, Prime Minister Modi addressed a massive rally at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Grounds. The BJP’s official YouTube channel also uploaded the video of the rally. In this video, PM Modi greets the audience by waving his hand, as shown in the viral video.
