Is this a recent video of Gayatri Mantra being sung during the Pakistan PM oath taking ceremony? Know the truth. 

A video of a lady singing Gayatri Mantra in presence of former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif and others is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that this is a recent video where Gayatri Mantra was sung during the oath taking ceremony of the newly appointed Prime Minister of Pakistan. 

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an old video from Pakistan during Holi when Nawaz Sharif was Prime Minister. 

What’s the claim? 

Sharing the video, a social media user wrote, “PAKISTAN PRIME MINISTER’s SWEARING IN CEREMONY STARTING WITH “GAYATRI MAHA MANTRA” by Smt. NARODA MALINI SAHIBA. Now Pakistan has officially recognised the importance & it’s recited in all functions.”

Fact Check- 

We found that in the beginning of the video the anchor invited Naroda Malini Sahiba to recite Gayatri Mantra on the occasion of the Holi ritual. After this Naroda Malini wished everyone Happy Holi and conveyed her happiness to recite Gayatri Mantra in the presence of the PM Nawaz Sharif. 

From this it is clear that this video is from an event organized during the Holi in Pakistan during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister. 

A relevant keyword search led us to a small clip of the event uploaded on India News National’s official YouTube channel in 2017. According to the report, Gayatri Mantra was recited in an event organized on the occasion of Holi in Pakistan. PM Nawaz Sharif was also present in the venue. The Gayatri Mantra was sung by Narodha Malini. 

We also found that Nawaz Sharif served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 5 June 2013 to 28 July 2017. 

From the above facts, it is clear that the viral video is not related to Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s oath taking ceremony. This is an old video. 

Was Gayatri Mantra recited during the oath taking ceremony? 

We came across a video of the oath taking ceremony of Shehbaz Sharif. As new Prime Minister of Pakistan. We saw the complete video and didn’t find any moment where Gayatri Mantra was played or recited during the ceremony. Below you can see the video. 

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an old video from 2017 when an event was organized in Pakistan on the occasion of Holi when Nawaz Sharif was Prime Minister of the country.
