On the other hand, a few users few users had also posted contents on the negative side of Lakshadweep. In this scenario, a video showing two boats ramming into each other has gone viral on social media with the claim that it is from Lakshadweep.
Fact Check-
We conducted a reverse image search on Google with the key frames of the viral video to find the original source. As a result, we found the same video was uploaded on a YouTube channel and it appeared to be a clip from Alappuzha in Kerala. The video shows an accident happened during the boat race.
Kerala is famous for traditional boat race known as Vallam kali. It is a form of canoe racing, and uses paddled war canoes. It is mainly conducted during the season of the harvest festival Onam in spring
Kerala's Media outlets covered the news. This video is from the Pandanad Champions Boat League, according to an article in Malayala Manorama dated 3 December 2023. Following their triumph in the boat race, members of the Pallathuruthy Boat Club (located in Alappuzha) began rowing their boat back to the pavilion when they were hit by another boat. One rover was injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital.
Taking account of all this evidence, we can clearly say that an old video of a Kerala boat race has been shared, linking to Lakshadweep amid the row over the Maldives.
