Recently, a video of a leopard walking along with a crowd is going viral on social media. It can also be seen that people are touching the leopard and taking selfies with it. The most surprising thing is that the leopard is not reacting to anything.

Social media users are claiming that this is an incident from Taragarh village where a leopard drank alcohol and is in an intoxicated state.

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The leopard was in poor health and extremely sick.

Fact Check-

A Google keyword search led us to a report published by ABP News on 1 September 2023. According to the report, The incident took place near Ikalera forest in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh. At first, people were afraid to see this tiger. But after seeing the tiger in such a sluggish condition, they surrounded it and started taking selfies and harassing it.

After receiving the news, the forest department officials reached the spot and rescued the leopard. According to information, the animal was extremely sick. He was taken to Indore Zoo where he was treated. According to the doctor, he was suffering from a neurotic disease. In this disease, animals forget their identity.

Another report of the same incident was also found on TV9 Bharatvarsh’s official YouTube channel.

To know more about this incident, Fact Crescendo contacted Indore Zoo. They informed us that the claims on social media are false. The leopard was terribly sick from a neurotic disease known as Canine Distemper. It is a very serious disease and surviving from it is nearly impossible. The animal was under treatment in the Indore zoo for two days and later the leopard was handed over to the Forest Department.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The leopard was not intoxicated but was suffering from a neurotic disease known as Canine Distemper.
