The video was captured from the International Space Station in October 2022, months before the launch of Chandrayaan-3.

Fact check

We examined the viral video closely, and then noticed at the end it was credited to the Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit of NASA in its final frames. Additionally, the name Som ET also appeared in the credits.

This means that the video was likely recorded from the International Space Station (ISS) - the alphanumeric code at the end of the video suggests a connection to the ISS. By searching for this sequence, we found the same video uploaded by “Som ET” on multiple social media channels

In further search we found a similar video posted on the European Space Agency website. The video is titled as Moonlight Timelapse , it is dated 13 October 2022 on the website. The description part reads: Timelapse video made during ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti’s second mission to the International Space Station, “Minerva”. She shared this video with the caption: “One last time, fly along with me! Farewell and, as always, thanks for all the fish!”

Thus, it is evident that this video was captured from the ISS and was first shared online in October 2022. This video has been online months before the launch of Chandrayaan-3 and is unrelated to the visuals from Chandrayaan 3.

Meanwhile we checked for recent updates from ISRO and found these visuals with the caption “View from the Lander Imager (LI) Camera-1 on August 17, 2023 just after the separation of the Lander Module from the Propulsion Module.
