A video of destroyed tents and buildings went viral on social media claiming it to be the Iranian attack on Israel. Sharing the video on social media, users are claiming that Iran destroyed 30 Israeli F-35 fighter jets. One such post on Facebook reads, "Iran has successfully destroyed 30 Israeli F-35 fighter jets".

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The video is not related to any Iranian attack on Israel. Here's the fact check.

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a tweet on 12 February 2024. The video was uploaded to the tweet, and according to the caption, it was from Rafah.

It is to be noted that Rafah is a city in the Southern Gaza Strip, Palestine.

Taking this clue, we searched on Google using relevant keywords. This led us to a report published on 12 February 2024. The report contained a photo similar to the screenshots from the viral video. The photo was captioned, "A view of the pothole formed as a result of Israeli attack at an empty field where Palestinians pitch their tents as buildings heavily damaged after Israeli attacks in Rafah, Gaza on February 12, 2024. Moving forward, we found another article published on 12 February 2024 featuring the same photo. The headline of the report read, "Israel Told Palestinians to Evacuate to Rafah — then Bombed Them".

Further, we found the viral video on the YouTube channel Al Arabiya uploaded on 12 February 2024. According to the description of the video, the clip shows the effects of the Israeli bombing on the Al-Shaboura camp in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.


From this, it's clear that the viral video is old and not related to the Iranian attack on Israel.
