No, The Video Of A Man Eaten Alive By A Dog Is Not From Bangladesh
A video of a person's private parts eaten by a dog when he was alive went viral on social media claiming it to be a video of a Hindu man in Bangladesh. The video was forwarded to our 24*7 Factline number 9049053770 with the claim that this is the situation of Hindus in Bangladesh.
However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The video is old and not from Bangladesh. Here's the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. As a result, we found a report published in Malay language on a website on 10 March 2021. Translation of the headline read, "Taking the Law into Its Own Hand, a Dog Bites Off a Rapist's Genitals Until They're Severed!" The report contained the screenshots from the viral video.
According to the report, the incident allegedly occurred in Mexico City. A gang punished the man in the video for the sexual crimes he had committed.
We found one more report according to which the incident took place in Mexico City in the year 2019.
Taking this clue we conducted a relevant keyword search and found a report published in "The Sun" on 9 September 2019. According to the report, "A MEXICAN gang stripped a suspected rapist naked and castrated him by making a pit bull terrier eat his genitals. The man, reported to be in his 30s, received the barbaric public punishment for an alleged assault on a woman in Mexico City".
Further, we found another report published on the "Daily Star" website on 9 September 2019 which stated, "A Mexican gang tortured an alleged rapist by stripping him naked in the street before making a pitbull eat his genitals, a distressing video has shown. The unnamed man in his 30s was set upon after allegedly sexually attacking a woman in Mexico City last month"...
"...The attackers are said to have made the video public as a warning to other would-be attackers in the crime-ridden city."
From this, it's clear that the viral video is old and from Mexico City.
