Against this backdrop, a video purporting to show an accident during a Muharram procession is circulating on social media, claiming to depict the recent tragedy that occurred in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh.
Let’s check the truth.
Fact check:
We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a report from 29 July 2023, carrying the screenshot of the video. As per the report, “The Tazia procession came in contact with a high-tension line in Patei Khalsa village of Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh. More than two dozen people were injured in the accident. Two people have been confirmed dead.”

Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found several media reports regarding this accident. Which you can see here and here.
Additionally, we found a video news report with the same information shared by Dainik Jagran on 30 July, 2023.
Thus, it is clear that the viral video is from 2023 and is from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, not Madhya Pradesh.
