Misleading Political

This viral video is from Bangladesh, it has no link to India

Three men were arrested recently for trying to sabotage railway operations by derailing a train between Tilbhita and Kotlipokhar railway stations in Pakur district in Jharkhand on 10 January 2026. Against this backdrop, a video of children damaging a train is going viral on social media. In the video, we can see a child throwing stones at the engine of a stationary train and some children standing on top of the engine also. The accompanying caption states, “A major train derailment attempt was successfully averted in Pakur, Jharkhand, after an alert goods train driver noticed suspicious iron blocks placed on the railway track and immediately took action”.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by running a Google reverse image search, whose result led us to a similar video shared on the Facebook page ‘AL Amin Babukhali’ on 28 December, 2025. The caption of the post states that this video is from Kamalapur. Kamalapur is a large railway station in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This indicates that the video is from Bangladesh.

Using these hints, we conducted further searches, and found that the train was not from India.  The carriage bears the letters “BR,” which stands for Bangladesh Railway and is commonly displayed on trains operated by the national rail service. In addition, Bengali text is visible on the train, including the word “Shovan” and partial lettering reading “er-City,” suggesting that the train may be part of an inter-city service.

Next, we inquired about the “Shovan” written on the bogie. In Bangladeshi trains, Shovan refers to Shovan Chair which is a popular, standard, non-air-conditioned second-class seating option featuring bench-style seats, often cushioned, found on inter-city and mail trains.

We compared images of Bangladeshi trains with the train featured in the viral video. The design, structure, and markings such as the “BR” logo and “intercity” text were closely aligned, confirming that this train is part of Bangladesh Railway. The pictures of trains in Bangladesh were available online . The colours and designs of Indian Railways train coaches are different.

Taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that the video being circulated is not from India but from Bangladesh.

Conclusion

Fact Crescendo found that the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. This viral video is from Bangladesh; it has no link to India.
