Protest Against A Cement Plant Is Going Viral As The Save Aravalli Movement.

Misleading Social

A video of a massive rally went viral on social media, claiming it was a rally demanding the protection of the Aravalli Hills. Sharing the video, a user wrote, “The Save Aravalli Movement began after the Supreme Court of India defined a “hill” as land rising at least 100 metres above the surrounding area; though based on expert committee recommendations, people protested, alleging it favours land and mining mafias.”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The viral video is not related to the “Save Aravalli Movement”. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to an Instagram handle where the viral video was uploaded on 8 December 2025.

According to the caption, the video shows a protest against”Shri Cement” in Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a tweet on the X handle of News18 Chhattisgarh on 6 December 2025 that contained the viral video.

The translation of the tweet read, “#Khairagarh- Farmers’ Protest Against Shri Cement Plant, Demonstration Against the Proposed Cement Plant in the District, Farmers from Villages Arrived in Chuikhidan with 300 Tractors, Thousands of Villagers from 40 Villages Joined the Movement”

According to reports, residents of Khairagarh are protesting against the proposed Shri Cement plant in that area fearing the possible pollution and adverse effects on health.

Other similar video reports can be seen here and here.

This makes it clear that the viral video is not related to the Save Aravalli Movement.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video doesn’t show a protest demanding the protection of the Aravalli Hills. The video is from Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh, where the people were protesting against a proposed plant of Shri Cement.
