This viral video shows Russian missile strikes on Ukraine

A long-running border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia escalated on 24 July with Thailand launching airstrikes on Cambodian military targets and accusing Cambodia of firing rockets and artillery. The death toll on both sides now stands at 32, as fears grow of a larger conflict breaking out between the neighbours.

Against this backdrop, a video showing a massive explosion with thick smoke billowing into the sky has gone viral on social media with the claim that the Royal Thai Air Force carried out airstrikes, destroying at least two Cambodian military positions, including a brigade headquarters.

The same video is viral on Twitter as well

Fact Check-

We conducted a reverse image search on Google with the key frames of the viral video to find the original source. The results led us to same video uploaded on the NBC News YouTube channel on 6 June 2025. As per the video report, the video shows Russian missiles hitting the western Ukrainian city of Lutsk that day.

This indicates that that the video is neither recent nor connected to the Thailand-Cambodia border dispute.

Upon further search, we found several news reports from June that featured the viral video. As per News18, the footage from the strikes showed a massive Russian aerial assault on Ukraine moments before erupting into fireball explosions.

We also came across a Twitter post by RT, a Russian state media, which featured the same video as seen in the social media post. It was uploaded on 6 June, mentioned that a massive Russian strike reportedly rained down on an aircraft repair complex in Ukraine’s Lutsk. 

so, taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that this viral video does not show Thailand striking Cambodian military targets.

Conclusion

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. This viral video shows Russian missile strikes on Ukraine and it dates back to June 2025
