Following this, a video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is going viral on the social media. In the video, we can see him sitting in a car and watching Narendra Modi taking oath as Prime Minister on the screen.
Let’s check the truth
Fact Check-
We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a similar video on the official Instagram account of Rahul Gandhi. It was uploaded on 17 April, 2024 with the caption, “Thinking of India, searching for India! As in the viral video here no video or clips could be seen on the TV screen in Rahul Gandhi’s car.
This video is before the first phase of polling of the 2024 general elections which took place on 19 April. You can see a comparison of both images below.
Upon further search we found that the viral footage of PM Modi taking oath shown on the screen in front of Rahul Gandhi is from the swearing-in ceremony of 2019. In a video shared on the Hindustan Times YouTube channel on 30 May, 2019. at the time frame of 22 seconds, Modi can be seen in the same posture while taking oath. During this time, the sound of Narendra Modi taking oath can also be heard, which has also been added to the viral video.
Narendra Modi was seen wearing a light brown jacket at the 2019 swearing-in ceremony, while he wore a blue jacket at the ceremony held on 9 June, 2024.
