A video of a missile attack on a multi-storey building went viral on social media claiming it to be a recent Israeli attack on Lebanon. Sharing the video, a user wrote, “Israel has carried out its largest attack on Lebanon since its war with Hezbollah began, killing at least 254 people and wounding 837, an assault that prompted Iranian officials to warn Tehran could withdraw from the ceasefire agreed with the US overnight.”

However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in NDTV on October 23, 2024, that contained an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video.

According to the report, the video shows an Israeli missile attack on a residential building in Beirut.
We found the viral video uploaded on the YouTube channel of The Telegraph on October 23, 2024.

The description of the video read, “Israel has destroyed an apartment building in southern Beirut in an air strike photographed in rare detail.
Residents and reporters gathered 200m (218 yards) away from an apartment complex after Israel gave warnings in Arabic about targeting “Hezbollah facilities”.
About 40 minutes after the warnings, Israeli forces dropped what appears to be a 2,000 lb MK-84 bomb on the base of the eight-storey building.
Footage and images from the scene showed two bombs hitting, one immediately after the other, suggesting two missiles hit the ground floor of the building in Beirut’s Ghobeiry neighbourhood.”
Other reports can be seen here and here.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video doesn’t show a recent Israeli attack on Lebanon. This is an old video from Beirut, Lebanon, that shows an Israeli missile attack on a residential building in October 2024.
