Old video of KCR on Burj Khalifa goes viral as his 72nd Birthday tribute

The viral video dates back to 2021 when Burj Khalifa was lit up to mark Telangana’s Bathukamma festival as part of an initiative by Telangana Jagruthi.

BRS president and opposition leader K. Chandrashekar Rao celebrated his 72nd birthday at Telangana Bhavan with senior leaders and party cadres in attendance on 17 February 2026. Amidst the celebrations, a video is going viral on social media claiming that on KCR’s birthday, the Burj Khalifa projected his photo alongside the slogans “Jai Telangana” and “Jai Hind.” According to the viral post, the building displayed this tribute in honor of his birthday.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a keyword search on Google, but we could not find any credible reports of any special display at the Burj Khalifa for the occasion. Actual celebrations included the planting of approximately 10,000 mangrove saplings in the Sundarbans.

Next, we conducted a Google reverse image search using keyframes from the viral video and whose results led us to the same visuals uploaded on YouTube channels in October 2021 under the caption, “Bathukamma On Burj Khalifa In Dubai”.

Moving forward, we found several news reports regarding this. The Indian Express report stated that, “Bathukamma, Telangana’s floral festival, went global on Saturday when the Burj Khalifa in Dubai was lit up with colours depicting the festival and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Slogans, including “Jai Hind”, “Jai Telangana”, and “Jai KCR”, were featured between 9.40 pm and 10.40 pm (IST) as part of the initiative taken up by MLC Kalvakuntala Kavitha and her Telangana Jagruthi to promote the state’s floral festival”.

According to these reports, on 23 October 2021, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai was illuminated to mark Telangana’s floral festival, Bathukamma. 

Bathukamma is a vibrant and culturally significant floral festival celebrated primarily in the Telangana region of India. It holds deep spiritual, ecological, and feminine symbolism and is one of the most important festivals for the women of Telangana.

Thus, it is clear that the viral video dates back to 2021 when Burj Khalifa was lit up during the Bathukamma festival of Telangana. KCR’s image on the Burj Khalifa is not a recent incident.

Fact Crescendo has found the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. The viral video dates back to 2021 when Burj Khalifa was lit up to mark Telangana’s Bathukamma festival as part of an initiative by Telangana Jagruthi. It is not related to KCR’s 72nd birthday.
