Recently, a video showing a Mahindra Thar crashing into an overhead highway signboard went viral on social media. Sharing the viral video of the Thar lodged into the signboard, a user wrote, “A shocking road incident was captured on camera on the busy highway connecting Delhi, Gurugram, and Jaipur along the National Highway 48 corridor. In the viral visual, a Thar appears dangerously lodged into an overhead direction sign board after a major impact, leaving commuters stunned.

The footage shows heavy traffic moving normally while the damaged vehicle remains stuck high above the road structure, raising serious concerns about speeding, lane discipline, and driver attention on high-speed expressways. Official details about injuries or casualties are still not confirmed, but the incident highlights how a single mistake on highways can lead to life-threatening consequences.”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is AI-generated. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

At the beginning of our investigation, we noticed some abnormalities in the viral video. 

The position of the Thar in the video doesn’t support the law of physics. It is practically not possible for such a heavy vehicle to lodge into a signboard and not fall. 

Moreover, the words on the right side of the signboard do not make any sense and the number plate of the Thar doesn’t match the standard Indian vehicle registration format.

Moving forward, conducting a reverse image search of the screenshots from the viral video, we found an Instagram handle where the viral video was uploaded on February 18, 2026. 

The caption of the post read, “This video content is AI-generated for fun purposes only. Please don’t take it seriously.

The Instagram handle has multiple such videos and the Bio section of the handle indicates that the user makes AI videos.

Moreover, AI-Detector tools suggested that the viral video was generated using AI.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video of a Thar lodged into an overhead highway signboard is not a real incident. The video was created using AI.
