A video of a young couple getting engaged in a metro station has gone viral on social media, with claims that it shows an actual incident. The footage depicts the couple sitting on a bench on the platform while an elderly woman conducts Hindu rites commonly associated with engagement ceremonies. Social media users claimed the older woman was the young man’s mother, and that she found him meeting his girlfriend at the metro station. Instead of questioning him, she reportedly decided to get the couple engaged on the spot.

The users who share the video believes that it is a real incident. The caption of the video states, “Caught red-handed at a metro station, a mother found her son with his girlfriend — but instead of creating drama, she took a surprising step and arranged their engagement”

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a similar video on an Instagram page named ‘Chalte_Phirte098’ an account run by Aarav Mavi. It was uploaded on 5 February, 2026, and the user identified himself as a content creator The caption with the video read, “Metro station par hua mera roka.”

Moving forward, we found an extended version of the viral video was uploaded to the same YouTube account on 5 February, 2026. It shows the story of a young couple named Sidharth and Diksha. In the footage, we can see that Sidharth’s family members are on their way to formalise his marriage with Diksha. They then wait for the girl at the metro station. After a long wait, the girl comes and refuses to take them home. She explains that her father is against inter-caste marriages. After this, the girl also talks to her father on the phone, but her father refuses to listen to her. Then the boy’s aunt arranges a small ritual at a metro station to fix their engagement. In the meantime, she tells the person who filmed the entire incident to record it properly and send it to his father.

Aarav Mavi is known for producing scripted dramas inspired by real-life events. He has numerous videos on this and similar topics on his Instagram and YouTube channels. He also encourages people to share their personal stories and shares screenshots of them on his Instagram story.

For further confirmation, we contacted Aaran Mavi, who explained that he drew inspiration from real stories shared with him by others. He created this specific video based on one of those shared experiences.

Earlier we debunked another video shared by the same content creator. The video showed the bride meeting her former partner shortly before her wedding. At that time, the creator also confirmed to us that the video was scripted. Which can be found below.

So, based on these evidences, we can understand that a scripted video showing a young couple getting engaged at a metro station was falsely shared as a real incident.

Conclusion- 

Fact crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. This video does not show a real incident. It is a scripted video by content creator Aarav Mavi.
