Fact Check: AI Video Viral as “Live Footage” of Ajit Pawar’s Plane Crash

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died on 28 January 2026 after his chartered aircraft crashed near Baramati airport in Pune district. Officials said all five people on board were killed in the incident. Following the crash, a video began circulating on social media claiming to show the aircraft going down in Baramati.

What is the claim?

In the viral video, an aircraft is seen crashing to the ground, followed by an explosion. Panic-stricken people can be seen running in different directions, while firefighters at the scene try to douse the flames. A person in the video claims that the aircraft crashed in Baramati and that the visuals are from the incident live.

The caption of the video includes hashtags such as “Ajit Pawar” and “plane crash.” While sharing this video, users write in the caption that, “LIVE: Private Jet Crash in Baramati | Breaking Update.”

A search revealed that the viral video was created using AI.

The clip was shared on January 29 by an Instagram account named “time_travels_vlogs.”

This account belongs to a user named Sahil Kumar. The profile caption states, “My all reel entertainment on purpose.”

The Instagram account has shared several AI-generated videos related to the Baramati plane crash.

Amid the ongoing tensions in Iran, the Instagram account has also shared AI-generated videos showing scenes of arson and unrest.

Authentic CCTV Footage

At present, two official videos of Ajit Pawar’s plane crash in Baramati are available in the media.

The first CCTV footage surfaced on January 28. It shows that at exactly 8:46:02 a.m., a highway camera located a few minutes from the airport captured a sudden fireball and a massive plume of smoke. The aircraft carrying Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others had crashed at that very moment.

In the second CCTV clip, the Learjet 45 carrying Ajit Pawar can be seen tilting to the left just before crashing near Baramati airport.
