However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to the recent protest against the new UGC Bill. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in Amar Ujala on September 23, 2025, that contained an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video.

According to the report, “…Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself started the first phase of GST Reform Awareness Campaign by doing public relations among traders and customers. The CM told the traders to give the benefit of reduced GST rates to the customers. This will make the business more prosperous…”
Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search that led us to the YouTube channel of ANI where we found a video similar to the viral one on 22 September 2025.

The description of the video read, “CM Yogi with BJP’s Ravi Kishan meets shopkeepers in Gorakhpur as GST reforms roll out”
Other reports can be read here and here.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the recent protest against the new UGC Bill.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show Yogi Adityanath and Ravi Kishan protesting against the new UGC Bill. The video is old. It shows Yogi Adityanath and Ravi Kishan meeting shopkeepers during an awareness campaign on GST reforms.
