However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was misleading. The viral video is from Bangladesh and has no communal angle. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a longer version of the viral video uploaded on a YouTube channel on 14 January 2026.

In this video, the child vendor and the man spoke in Bengali. From the timestamp 0:25, the man can be seen asking the child about his age. The child replied, “12 Years”. The man then asks the child, “What should you do at this time?” The child replied, “It’s time to sell balloons”. The man then said, “You should play at this time, you should study, why are you selling balloons? Don’t you study?” The child said, “No, I don’t”. The man then asked the child about the price of the balloons he brought to sell. He gives the child the price of the balloons and tells him to go play. After getting the money, the child said that he was happy.

We found the same video uploaded on a Facebook profile on 13 January 2026

According to the profile details, the profile owner is from Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

We found several videos promoting a cake shop in this profile.

We noticed the location matches the viral video. We could spot the banner of the cake shop in the viral video.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to the location of the viral video.

A comparison between the screenshots from the viral video and Google Maps images can be seen below.

This makes it clear that the viral video is from Bangladesh and has no communal angle.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video is not from India. It’s from Bangladesh and has no communal angle. The longer version of the video shows the man asking the child to go play or study instead of selling balloons and compensating him for the damaged balloons.
