However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to the capture of the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Reddit post where a longer version of the viral video was uploaded on 8 January 2024. According to the caption, the video shows a Chinook military exercise in Miami.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a similar video on YouTube on 25 January 2023.
According to the caption, the video shows a Chinook military exercise in Miami.
According to an Instagram handle, where a longer version of the viral video was uploaded on January 24, 2025, a Department of Defence exercise took place in Miami-Dade on January 25, 2023.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim was false. The viral video does show the moment when the US army captured the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The video predates the incident. It shows a military exercise in Miami.
