However, as we investigated, we came to know that the viral video had been clipped. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to the longer version of the video uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Sansad TV on 18 December 2025. The description of the video read, “Discussion on The Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin): VB-G RAM G Bill, 2025 in Rajya Sabha. That the Bill to establish a rural development framework aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, by providing a statutory guarantee of one hundred and twenty-five days of wage employment in every financial year to every rural household whose adult members volunteer to undertake unskilled manual work; to promote empowerment, growth, convergence and saturation for a prosperous and resilient rural Bharat; and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.”

From around the timestamp 4:44, Sanjay Singh says, “…I want to remind agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of an incident involving Atal ji, to make him understand the significance of Ram’s name. A rival once made a statement.. a political rival said, ‘If Atal ji has to worship, why doesn’t he worship me? My name also has Ram in it.’ Atal ji replied that Ram is a symbol of dignity for us; Ram is our ideal; Ram is adorable for us; Ram is God to us; Ram is the one who went into exile for 14 years to honour his father’s words; Ram is the one who destroyed Lanka. Ram signifies character, Ram signifies values, Ram signifies ideals. There must be character in the name of Ram; otherwise, even haram contains the word Ram.”

This makes it clear that Sanjay Singh was quoting Atal Bihari Vajpayee in his speech.

Moving forward, we found a tweet on the X handle of Sanjay Singh.  The tweet contained a screenshot of a report which stated that Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in response to Ramvilas Paswan’s remark, said that “Paswan ji, Haraam mein bhi Ram hota hai (Paswan ji, there’s Ram even in Haraam). The translation of the tweet read, “How can a central minister tell such a big lie?

What Atal Ji said, I mentioned it in the House; if you have any objection, then apologise for Atal Ji’s statement.

Below is the proof, see it, Prahlad Ji.”

We found a video of Sanjay Singh on the official X handle of ANI, where he said, “I quoted late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Atalji gave this statement. When Ram Vilas Paswan said, “My name also contains ‘Ram’. In response, he gave this reply. I mentioned that. If this is bothering the BJP people, then hold a press conference, everyone should sit together and tell the entire country that the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee committed a great sin by saying this, and they should apologise to the entire nation for it…”

This makes it clear that the viral video has been clipped.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video has been clipped. In the original video, AAP MP Sanjay Singh was quoting Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Sanjay Singh said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in response to Ramvilas Paswan’s remark, said that there is Ram even in Haraam.
