Old Unrelated Video Is Going Viral As Muslims Celebrate The Bondi Beach Terror Attack.

After the Bondi Beach, Sydney, terror attack, a video of a Muslim man delivering a speech in front of a crowd went viral on social media. Sharing the video, a user wrote, “The Muslims in Australia are smiling and happy about the Bondi massacre; they even lit fireworks to celebrate. They need to all be deported from every country to Arabic pig countries”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and unrelated to the Bondi Beach terror attack. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published on the ABC News website on 9 October 2023 that contained a video similar to the viral video. 

The caption of the video read, “A group gathered at Lakemba in south-west Sydney in support of the Palestinian cause a day after attacks and counter attacks in Israel.”

Another report read, “The prime minister has criticised comments made at a pro-Palestinian rally at which speakers described attacks on Israel as an act of “courage” and “resistance”. Israeli air strikes hit housing blocks, tunnels, a mosque and homes of Hamas officials in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza on Sunday, killing more than 400 people including 20 children.

It comes a day after one of the bloodiest attacks in Israel’s history when Islamist group Hamas killed 700 Israelis and abducted dozens more.

A group gathered at Lakemba in south-west Sydney on Sunday night, chanting “occupation is the crime” and “Palestine will be free”.

Many held signs, including “stop persecuting Muslims” and “stand for the oppressed”.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video doesn’t show Muslims celebrating the recent Bondi Beach, Sydney terror attack. The video is old. It shows Pro-Palestinian Australians celebrating the Hamas attack on Israel in 2023.
