After the tragic Tejas fighter plane accident in Dubai, a video of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh criticising the Indian government and the Tejas fighter plane went viral on social media. In the viral video, AP Singh can be heard saying, “I already told Indian government not to fly this and not to induct this in Air Force, but they didn’t listen to us and see this happened today. This is not plane, this is samosa, and samosas are not meant to fly”.
However, as we investigated, we came to know that the video had been altered. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a video live-streamed on ANI Bharat on 3 October 2025. The caption of the video read, “LIVE: Air Chief Marshal AP Singh की 93rd Air Force Day Celebration पर Press Briefing”
In this video, the Air Chief Marshal discusses Operation Sindoor and the various achievements of the Air Force.
Moreover, the video predates the Tejas accident in Dubai. Nowhere in the video did the Air Chief Marshal make any such remark.
Further, we found a tweet on the official X handle of PIB Fact Check refuting the claim. According to the tweet, the viral video is AI-manipulated.
This makes it clear that the viral video is edited.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the viral video has been altered. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh didn’t criticise the Indian government and the Tejas fighter plane after the Tejas accident in Dubai. The video has been edited.
