Recently, a video of a torch rally went viral on social media claiming it to be a protest rally in Patna, Bihar.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The video is not from Bihar. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a similar video, but in black and white, uploaded on a Facebook page on 25 October 2025.

According to the caption, the video shows a massive torch rally organised by the Tai Ahom Community in Sepon, Assam.

Moreover, in the viral video, we could hear the slogans “ATASU Zindabad” and “We Want ST”. ATASU is the abbreviation of All Tai Ahom Students’ Union. 

Taking this clue, we contacted Dulal Chandra Baruah, the Chief Advisor of ATASU. He stated that the video depicts a torch rally in Sepon, Assam, on 25 October 2025. ATASU (All Tai Ahom Students’ Union) organised this torch rally demanding ST status for the Tai Ahom Community. He shared some photos from the rally which can be seen below.

This makes it clear that the viral video is not from Bihar.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video of the torch rally is not from Bihar. The video is from Sepon, Assam where the All Tai Ahom Students’ Union organised a torch rally on 25 October 2025, demanding the ST status for the Tai Ahom Community.
