Video Of A Thief Stealing Bicycle In Paraguay Going Viral With Misleading Claims.

Communal Misleading

A video of a man climbing a wall and crossing a wire fence went viral on social media. The video shows a CCTV footage, where a man can be seen climbing over a wire fence and stealing a bicycle. Sharing the video, users claimed that the man in the video is an illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator, Mohammed Zubair, who was caught on CCTV stealing from a Hindu businessman’s house. The caption of the viral video reads, “Illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator Mohammad Zubair was caught on CCTV stealing from a Hindu businessman’s house.

Police later arrested him. Such illegal Rohingya & Bangladeshi elements are a growing threat to India’s internal security, from theft to terror. Deport them all.”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The video is from Paraguay. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to the Instagram handle Radio Cáritas UC, a media outlet in Paraguay, where the viral video was uploaded on 30 April 2025.

The translation of the Spanish caption reads, “#National | Not even concertina wire can stop thieves 🥲

👉🏻 In the Bella Vista area, Barrio Jara, closed-circuit cameras captured the moment a barefoot and unprotected young man entered a home to rob a house.

🔴 What’s striking about the case is that the house had razor-sharp wire, but the criminal still climbed the fence and managed to get over it. As can be seen in the video, he stole a bicycle.

😭 Not even these wires are effective security measures for homes.”

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a news report on the YouTube channel SNT Paraguay on 30 April 2025 which contained the viral clip. According to the report, the video is from Paraguay. It shows a thief stealing two bicycles from a house in Asunción, Paraguay.

The description of the video reads, “A man stole two bicycles from the yard of a house in Asunción and was recorded on security cameras. Neighbours denounce the growing insecurity in the area and call for increased police presence”.

Other reports can be seen here and here.

This makes it clear that the video is from Paraguay and not related to illegal Bangladeshi infiltration.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video doesn’t show a Bangladeshi infiltrator, Mohammed Zubair, stealing a bicycle from the house of a Hindu businessman. The video is from Paraguay and unrelated to Bangladeshi infiltration in India.
