This video does not show the last moments of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg

The person in this video is not Zubeen Garg, and this video has been available on Internet since July 2025.

Zubeen Garg, the iconic Assamese singer and cultural icon lost his life in Singapore after a scuba diving accident on 19 September 2025. Zubeen Garg died in Singapore after suffering a seizure while swimming at Lazarus Island.

Against this backdrop, a video of a scuba diver being lifted out of the water by an assistant is going viral on social media with the claim that it shows the last moments of Zubeen Garg.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google with the key frames of the video and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on YouTube on 19 July 2025, exactly two months before Zubeen Garg’s death. The description states, “He Couldn’t Breathe in 78 Meters Deep, and This Happened! When this man was coming up from 78 m deep in the sea, he ran out of breath and lost control after a few minutes. But he was incredibly lucky. Trained divers were watching over him. They pushed him to the surface and held his mouth to prevent water from entering. He was unconscious for a few seconds until he regained consciousness and they saved”.

This indicates that the video is not recent, and not related to the death of Zubeen Garg.

Moving forward, we found that the same video was uploaded on DAILYMOTION three months ago. 

The description states, “A terrifying moment as a professional diver loses consciousness after diving to a depth of 78 meters. The deep dive took a dangerous turn as the diver blacked out during ascent, prompting an urgent rescue by the safety team. Thankfully, quick action prevented a tragedy. Watch the intense footage and see how close this came to disaster”.

All these evidences confirms that this video has been available on the Internet for three months before Zubin Garg’s death. The scene of a professional diver losing control of the seabed and being rescued has become viral on social media following the death of Zubeen Garg.
