Viral Video Claiming Weapons Found in Manipur Mosque is Actually From Myanmar

Communal False

A video is going viral on social media with the claim that it shows a huge recovery of weapons and cash from a mosque in Manipur.

Fact Crescendo received several requests from readers on our WhatsApp Helpline (9049053770) to verify this claim.

We found that the claim is completely false. The video is not from Manipur and has nothing to do with any mosque in India. In reality, this footage is from Myanmar and is now being shared in India with a communal twist.

WHAT’S THE CLAIM?

The video shows piles of guns, bullets, and cash displayed on the ground, with several people in military uniforms standing nearby.

The text overlaid on the video claims: “All this was found inside a mosque in Manipur.”

Using reverse image search, we found similar videos shared on multiple Facebook pages from Myanmar.

A longer version of this clip was uploaded by Red News Agency on 15 April 2025 on YouTube and Facebook

In this better-quality version, we noticed that the currency shown in the video is not Indian currency.

The original Burmese title of the video translates to: “Weapons and money seized from Falam town.”

Falam is a town in Chin State, Myanmar, located close to the Mizoram border in India. (See Google Map Location)

According to Myanmar-based media reports, the Chin Brotherhood captured a major Myanmar army base in Falam in April.

Chin Brotherhood (CB) is a group of armed resistance forces in Chin State, Myanmar. It was formed after the Myanmar army (military junta) took control of the government in a coup in February 2021. Their goal is to fight against the Myanmar military junta and take back control of their areas.

Last year, the Chin Brotherhood launched a large offensive to capture Falam and successfully took control of key locations and several army outposts over the following months.

On 9 April 2025, the Chin Brotherhood released an official statement with photos showing the weapons they seized from the Myanmar military’s 268th battalion in Falam town.

These photos match to a large stockpile of weapons seen in the video.

On closely watching the clip, we also spotted BNRA written on a soldier’s uniform.

It stands for Burma National Revolutionary Army (BNRA), an armed resistance group formed in 2023 that is active in central Myanmar.

The emblem seen in the viral clip matches BNRA’s official logo.

On its Facebook page, BNRA also shared photos of the same weapons and ammunition shown in the viral video.

BNRA also confirmed that they were involved in the Battle of Falam.

“Capturing Falam town was the second major operation in Chin State, where BNRA took part. It was a successful mission carried out together by revolutionary forces from both the hills and the plains,” reads the official statement by the BNRA.

CONCLUSION

The viral video is not from Manipur and has nothing to do with any mosque in India. It is an old video from Myanmar, showing weapons and cash seized by resistance groups after capturing a Myanmar army base in Falam town.
