The UAE Government warns to take legal action against those spreading such rumours or collecting money by misleading people.
For the last couple of days, there has been a lot of excitement among people who want to move to the UAE. A viral news story claimed Indians could get a lifetime the UAE Golden Visa for just Rs. 23 lakh. No need to buy expensive property or start a business. Just pay and stay forever.
No wonder that the news created more frenzy than a Dubai shopping festival sale. Many saw it as a golden opportunity to settle in Dubai and realise a dream of having tax-free salaries.
WhatsApp groups and social media are flooded with “How to Apply” videos and articles, and some even joked about selling their properties to move.
But as with all the “too good to be true” stories, it turns out to be a false one as well.
The UAE government has denied offering any such lifetime visa scheme and warned people not to fall for such fake news.
So, before you make your move and consider paying someone to grab this Golden Visa offer with your savings…wait…pause…and read what is really going on.
WHAT’S THE CLAIM?
Many media outlets and websites, and soon followed by social media influencers, claimed that the UAE government has started a new type of Golden Visa, with India among the first to benefit.
According to the claim, under this “new nomination-based visa policy”, Indian nationals can now apply for the UAE’s 10-year Golden Visa without property investment or a trade license. All they need to do is pay Rs. 23 Lakh to get the lifetime residency in the UAE.
News agency Press Trust of India (PTI) cited the “people involved in the process” as the source of the news.
WHY THE BUZZ?
The UAE Golden Visa is one of the most sought-after residency programs in the world, known for its zero income tax policy and luxury lifestyle.
Started in 2019, it allows foreigners to live, work, and study in the UAE without needing a local sponsor. The visa is usually granted for 5 or 10 years and is renewable. It was designed to attract investors, skilled professionals, researchers, and talented individuals in various fields such as science, engineering, healthcare, arts, and sports.
Usually, one of the ways to get the UAE Golden Visa from India is by investing in property worth at least ₹4.66 crore or making a large business investment in the country, putting it out of reach for most people.
So the idea of getting a UAE Golden Visa for just Rs. 23 lakh was bound to create buzz. The lucrative offer made people see it as a real possibility.

IS IT REAL THOUGH?
Soon after the news about “UAE Golden Visa for just Rs. 23 lakh” went viral, UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) issued a statement debunking the viral claim.
As reported by Emirates News Agency Wam, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has denied rumours that it is granting lifetime Golden Visas to certain nationalities.
ICP made it clear that the Golden Visa rules are fixed and available on their official website. It also confirmed that all applications must go through proper government channels in the UAE. No private companies are allowed to handle these applications.
ICP stated that a foreign consultancy firm was claiming that people could get lifetime Golden Visas through their services from outside the UAE. They said the process was simplified and available for all visa categories.
The authority said that these claims did not have any legal basis and were made without any approval from UAE officials.
BEWARE OF SCAMS
Scammers and fraudsters often use such news to trick people into giving money. What made things worse was that the news didn’t just come from random social media posts. Several well-known Indian media outlets published the news, leading people to assume it must be true. Social media influencers, who love jumping on viral trends, added fuel to the fire.
They might create fake websites, pose as agents, or use edited documents to make their offer look real.
The authority also said that legal action will be taken against anyone spreading false information to trick people into paying money.
ICP warned the public not to fall for any scams under the name of the Golden Visa. If you want to visit, live, or invest in the UAE, don’t give money or personal documents to anyone who claims they can get you a visa.
And most importantly, avoid agents or middlemen who promise shortcuts. Always verify such claims with official sources before making any decisions or payments.
You can visit their official website (https://icp.gov.ae/en/) or call their helpline at 600522222. You can also contact UAE embassies or consulates for verified information.
