However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to the Ahmedabad Plane Crash. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published on a website on 22 January 2020. The report contained a video similar to the viral video. According to the report, the video shows a Ryanair flight after the cabin suddenly filled with smoke.
We found the same viral video uploaded on an Instagram account on 18 March 2023.
The interior of the aircraft matches the Ryanair aircraft.
Moving forward, we conducted a relevant keyword search that led us to a report published in the Mirror on 22 January 2020 containing images similar to the screenshots from the viral video. According to the report, “Ryanair flight FR1008 was travelling from Bucharest’s Otopeni airport to Stansted Airport when pilots were forced to declare Mayday and return just minutes after takeoff”
Other similar reports can be seen here, here and here.
We found multiple reports of smoke incidents on Ryanair Flights at different times.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the Ahmedabad Plane Crash.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show the Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad. The video is old and shows a smoke incident inside a Ryanair flight.
