
Heavy rainfall in Dima Hasao, Assam caused flood-like situations and landslides recently. Against this backdrop, a video of a flooded road went viral on social media claiming it to be Diyungbra in Dima Hasao, Assam.
However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is not from Dima Hasao, Assam. It’s from Sylhet, Bangladesh. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a YouTube channel where the viral video was uploaded on 1 June 2025. According to the caption, the video shows a flood situation on the Gowainghat-Radhanagar road in Sylhet.
We found a video on a verified YouTube channel uploaded on 31 March 2025, where a similar road to the one in the viral video was shown. According to the video, it shows a flood situation on the Gowainghat-Radhanagar road in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Taking this clue, using relevant keywords in Bangla, we found a report published on 31 May 2025, which contained an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video.
According to the report, “Due to the deep low pressure in the Bay of Bengal and continuous rain, the riverbeds of Gowainghat Upazila of Sylhet have become flooded…”
Another report containing an image of the same flooded road can be read here. According to the report, the image shows a recent flood situation in Sylhet, Bangladesh.

We geolocated the Gowainghat-Radhanagar road on Google Maps which can be seen here.
This makes it clear that the viral video is from Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show a flood situation in Diyungbra, Dima Hasao, Assam. The video is from Sylhet, Bangladesh.
