However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to Operation Sindoor. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Reddit post where the viral video was uploaded 8 months ago. The caption of the video read, “Massive Gas tankers explosion in the city of Aden, Yemen”.
Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a YouTube channel where the viral video was uploaded on 31 August 2024. According to the caption, the video was from Aden.
According to reports, at least five people died and ten others had been injured in a fire that broke out after a massive explosion at a gas station in the southwestern city of Aden on 31 August 2024.
Similar videos can be seen here, here and here.
This makes it clear that the viral video shows a gas station explosion in Aden, Yemen, in August 2024.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show Operation Sindoor. The video is old. It shows a gas station explosion in Aden, Yemen, on 31 August 2024.
