We started our investigation by performing a reverse image search with the key frames of the viral video and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on Instagram on 1 October 2024. The description states, “Iranian missiles have struck Israel’s Nevatim Airbase near Beersheva (Bir al-Sabi) after Tehran launched a salvo of rockets in retaliation to Israel’s raids in Lebanon”.

Using these hints, we conducted more searches, and found news reports regarding this incident. As per reports, on 1 October, 2024 Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have launched over 200 missiles at Israel, claiming it was a response to the deaths of key figures like Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah.
The attack also avenges IRGC Gen. Abbas Nilforushan, killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. Iran has warned that any retaliation from Israel will be met with a more severe response.
