However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was misleading. The people were being chased by the Police while they were protesting. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to multiple news reports related to the incident.

According to a report published in the Indian Express on 26 April 2026, “BJP MLA from Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal constituency, Balmukundacharya, 48, has been booked by the police on 25 April night on a complaint alleging that he along with a group of his supporters, raised slogans and pasted offensive posters in the Jama Masjid premises in the walled city in Jaipur. The incident sparked communal tension in the area and prompted the intervention of the police.

Tension flared when the BJP MLA and his supporters gathered outside Jama Masjid on Friday night and began sloganeering and putting up posters there, according to the police. This led to another group to gather in the area and hold a protest against Balmukundacharya’s alleged action, prompting Jaipur Commissioner Biju George as well as Congress MLAs Rafiq Khan and Amin Kagzi to reach the spot.”

We found a video report uploaded on a YouTube channel on 26 April. From the timestamp 0:15 to 0:30 a longer version of the viral video can be seen. The video shows the police beating the crowd. According to the video, after the Jaipur Jama Masjid controversy, on 26 April evening, the situation went out of control. However, the police brought the situation under control using mild force.

Another video report can be seen below.

The Additional Commissioner of Police, Jaipur (Law & Order), Dr Rameswar Singh, said that the situation was brought under control and he urged people not to fall for rumours.

Other reports can be seen here and here.

This makes it clear that the viral video shows police lathi charging the crowd in Jaipur.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The video doesn’t show the Hindus in Jaipur chasing and beating the Muslims outside the Jama Masjid when they were offering namaz. The video shows people being chased and lathi-charged by the Jaipur police when they gathered in front of the Jaipur Jama Masjid following a controversy. The controversy erupted after the BJP MLA from Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal constituency, along with a group of his supporters, gathered outside the Jama Masjid and pasted offensive posters on the Jama Masjid premises.
