Recently a video of paratroopers landing on a field near a road went viral on social media with the claim that the Indian army landed in Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack.
However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The video is old and even not from India. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to an Instagram post where the viral video was uploaded on 7 January 2025. We found a text written on the video in the Indonesian language.
Although the post didn’t have any caption, it became clear that the viral video predates the Pahalgam terror attack.
Now, taking screenshots from this Instagram video, we conducted a reverse image search. This led us to another Instagram post where the viral video was uploaded on 10 February 2025. The translation of the Indonesian caption reads, “Miss the Suparlan runway, Batu Jajar, Bandung, unforgettable memories if you have ever been here, Batu Jajar gives memories throughout my life that will never be repeated, respect to all the Kopassus trainers there”
When we contacted, the user confirmed that the video was from Batujajar, Indonesia.
In this Instagram post, the user mentioned the source of the video as “harry_rasyidi”.
Taking the clue, using relevant keywords, we found the Instagram handle “harry_rasyidi“, but we couldn’t find the viral video in that profile. There are some other videos of men in uniforms in that profile. The videos have a TikTok watermark and the username @prada_harry_rasyidi_kc. Since TikTok is banned in India, with the help of our Cambodia team, we found the TikTok profile where the viral video was uploaded on 15 April 2024. According to the post, the video is from Lapangan Udara Suparlan Batujajar West Bandung, West Java, Indonesia.
We searched for the location on Google Maps which can be seen here.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old and not from India.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The video doesn’t show the Indian Army landing on Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. The video has been there on the internet since at least April 2024.
