Did The RSS Members Give A Guard Of Honour To The British Queen During The Independence Movement? Here’s The Truth.

Recently an image of a few people wearing RSS uniforms was forwarded to our 24X7 Factline number 9049053770. The image shows people wearing the uniform of RSS standing in front of Queen Elizabeth. Sharing the image, the user claimed that during the Independence Movement, the members of the RSS gave the British Queen a guard of honour.

The same image was shared by a Facebook user too.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The image has been edited. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search and a relevant keyword search. This led us to an article published in Maval Jagran on 15 October 2008 which contained an image similar to the viral image. The image showed the RSS members standing in a row, but no one was there in front of them.

A reverse image search of the photo of the officer and Queen Elizabeth in the viral image revealed that the photo is from 1956. When Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were on a royal tour of Nigeria, Queen Elizabeth inspected a regiment at Kaduna Airport.

This makes it clear that the viral image has been edited. Two different images have been combined and shared with a false claim.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The RSS members didn’t give a guard of honour to the British Queen as claimed in the viral post. Two different images have been combined and shared with a false claim.
