
A 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar on 28 March 2025. Tremors felt across Bangkok and China too. Against this backdrop, a video of a compilation of two different clips went viral on social media claiming it to be from the Myanmar earthquake. One clip shows a high-rise building collapsing and the other clip shows water pouring from the top of a high-rise building due to an earthquake. Sharing the video, users are claiming that the visuals are from Myanmar.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the visuals are not from Myanmar, but from Bangkok. Here’s the fact Check.

We started our investigation by taking some screenshots from the viral video.
First Clip
A reverse image search of the screenshots from the first clip in the viral video led us to a report published in “CNN World” that contained the viral video. According to the report, the under-construction building in Bangkok collapsed during the earthquake in Bangkok on 28 March 2025.

We found the same clip on the official Facebook page of The Economic Times. According to the caption, the video is from Bangkok.
Second Clip
A reverse image search of the second clip led us to a report published in Asianet News that contained the viral video. The report read, “A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, March 28, with tremors felt as far as Thailand and China. Footage by Bangkok resident Sebastian Wolff shows water cascading from the rooftop pool of an Intercontinental Hotel. He said the video was taken from inside an office space at the the WeWork T-One Building.”
