However, as we investigated, we came to know that the viral image was edited. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We noticed several abnormalities in the viral image. For example, the hand of the man in the viral image was behind the placard, and the texts written on the jerseys were distorted.
We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a tweet on 23 March 2025 where an image similar to the viral image was uploaded. But, the text written on it was different from the viral image. It read, “THE MAN THE MYTH THE MAHI”. The name of the user is Rathna Kumar, a director and writer.
The same photo was uploaded on the Instagram handle of Rathna Kumar on 24 March 2025.
A comparison between the viral image and the original image can be seen below.
This makes it clear that the viral image has been edited.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the viral image was altered. The CSK fan was not holding a placard abusing the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. In the original image, the person was holding a placard cheering for MS Dhoni.
