Recently a video of AAP Leader Saurabh Bharadwaj went viral on social media. The video shows Saurabh Bhardwaj on stage, asking the iOS voice assistant “Siri” about the “Yamuna River cleaning promise” Sharing the video users wrote, “Siri has exposed AAP Da! 😂😂😂

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the video had been altered. In the original video, Saurabh Bharadwaj asked ‘Siri’ “who used the term ‘guarantee’ in Indian Politics?”, and Siri replied, “Aam Aadmi Party”. Here’s the Fact Check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to a video uploaded on the official YouTube channel of The Indian Express on 27 January 2025. From the timestamp 1:05, Saurabh Bharadwaj can be heard talking about the word ‘guarantee’. He said that Arvind Kejriwal had used the word ‘guarantee’ in Indian Politics and in this context, Saurabh Bharadwaj used the digital voice assistant of iOS ‘Siri’ to find out who first used the term ‘guarantee’ in Indian Politics.

The description of the video read, “The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj used Siri, the digital voice assistant on his iPhone, to find out who first used the word “guarantee” in Indian politics. During a press conference, Bharadwaj highlighted AAP’s claim. He stated that AAP introduced the term “guarantee” ahead of Assembly Elections in the national capital.”

Moving forward, we found the full version of the video on the official YouTube channel of the Aam Aadmi Party streamed on 27 January 2025. The caption of the video read, “दिल्ली वालों के लिए केजरीवाल की 15 गारंटी | Arvind Kejriwal 15 Guarantees | AAP Manifesto Launch”.

From the timestamp 0:54 to 3:05, Saurabh Bharadwaj talks about who first used the term ‘guarantee’ in Indian Politics. But, during his speech, he didn’t mention the “Yamuna River cleaning promise”.

A comparison between the viral video and the original video can be seen below.

We found news reports that stated Saurabh Bharadwaj’s speech during the AAP manifesto release. 

This makes it clear that the viral clip has been altered. 

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the viral video has been altered. In the original video, Saurabh Bharadwaj asked ‘Siri’ “who used the term ‘guarantee’ in Indian Politics?”, and Siri replied, “Aam Aadmi Party”. Saurabh Bharadwaj didn’t mention anything about the “Yamuna River cleaning promise” as shown in the viral clip.
