But on investigation, we found that the video is not recent and it is not from Maharashtra. Let’s check the truth.
Fact Check-
We started our investigation by conducting a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a post on Twitter uploaded on 31 January 2024, featuring the same viral video. It indicates that the video does not show any anti-EVM protest after the recent Maharashtra polls. The post stated that the visuals are from Jantar Mantar.
Moving forward, we have come across another video of this incident with same details. A YouTube video uploaded by OHeraldo Goa on 31 January 2024. The caption states, “Nationwide Movement to Ban EVMs Gains Momentum at Jantar Mantar, Delhi”.
We also found news reports regarding the same. According to reports, in January 2024, a protest against Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) took place at Jantar Mantar, organised by 22 groups, including Bharat Mukti Morcha, Rashtriya Kisan Morcha, and Bahujan Mukti Party.
Conclusion-
