A video of some NDFR staff carrying people on stretcher is going viral on social media. In the background a coach of a train can be seen on top of another coach of a different train. The whole visual looked like an accident of two trains. Social media users are claiming that this incident took place in Bikaner.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is a video of a mock drill and not a real train accident incident.
What’s the claim?
Sharing the video, a social media user wrote, “Bikaner Train Accident where a train coach raises over another trains coach under high velocity. This is now probably just another news and makes not an interesting feed for neither the Govt nor the people of India. Rail and Reel Minister can remain on silent mode as always. It’s a hopeless situation.”
Fact Check-
A relevant keyword search on Google led us to the Bhaskar’s report on the viral incident. According to the report, this is not a footage of a real incident but a mock drill. This drill was conducted to check the efficiency and alertness of Railway Security force, police force and other officials. One of the coaches was kept on the other and an accident scenario was created. After that news of accident was communicated.
A tweet from Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) reads, “MOCK drill of relief work during incidents like train accident were undertaken in close coordination with NDRF for ensuring that the prescribed procedure is followed and to check the need of any change /improvement there upon.”
Apart from this, we also found another such mock drill conducted by Railways in Tiruchi on 23 August 2024. This mock drill was conducted by both Tiruchi Railway Division and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). A simulation of derail of one AC coach and two general coaches was conducted.
In the below image, you can see almost same arrangements were made where a coach was kept on top of another.
Conclusion:
Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The viral video showing the rescue operation after a train accident is not a real incident but a mock drill conducted by the Railways to check the efficiency and alertness of the rescue team.
