This is an old video from an incident that occurred in Georgia in the year 2018 where a fish tank reportedly broke in a super market in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia.

On 16 April 2024, heavy rains caused floods in the United Arab Emirates, affected cities of mainly Dubai and Sharjah, the northern Emirates. According to the Emirati National Center for Meteorology, this was the country’s heaviest rainfall recorded in 75 years. Amidst this, a video is circulating in one of the supermarkets in the city of Dubai, purporting to be the footage of fish floating on the floor. There are scenes of watery fish floating on the floor of supermarket aisles and staff trying unsuccessfully to catch them. Crediting the visuals as being from Dubai, the accompanying caption reads: “Dubai UAE: Live Fish see in a supermarket after the flooding that recently took place, as water slowly drains out.”
Fact Check-
Our investigation began with a reverse image search of key frames from the viral video, which led us to a report by and found that the video has been circulating since 2018. The incident took place at a Carrefour supermarket in Tbilisi, Georgia. After the aquarium collapsed, the fish were washed away in the supermarket. Daily Mail UK published an article on the video on 12 February, 2018.
“An aquarium tank shattered in a supermarket in Georgia leaving fish wriggling helplessly around the tiled floor. Dozens of the helpless creatures were left flapping around in the shallow water in the aisle as staff at the Carrefour retailer in Tbilisi desperately tried to catch them in nets.”

In further search we found, the same video was posted on YouTube on 3 February, 2018 with a caption Fish swim on Carrefour supermarket hypermarket store floor in Tbilisi, Georgia viral video
Reports published by other media outlets about the sightings mention that the incident took place at a supermarket in Georgia. Anyway, the incident has nothing to do with Dubai flood.
Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The incident of fish floating inside the supermarket took place on 2 February, 2018 at the Carrefour supermarket in Tbilisi, Georgia. The footage has nothing to do with Dubai or the recent floods in Dubai.
