Did the New York Times recently publish an article mocking PM Modi prior to the Lok Sabha election? Know the truth.
Prior to the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a newspaper clip of the New York Times mocking PM Modi is going viral on social media. This newspaper clip contains a vulgar cartoon image showing a man sitting naked on a throne with a crown on head. This clip also tagged PM Modi as FEKU.
Fact Crescendo found that this is an altered image of the New York Times newspaper. The real newspaper edition does not have any such news.
What’s the claim?
Sharing the image, a social media user wrote, “On the context of Electoral Bonds, the international media The New York Times had reported that the king had become naked”

Fact Check-
After looking at the viral newspaper clip, we found that at the top above the name of the newspaper ‘Satire Edition’ and at the bottom ‘Reported By- @EducatedBilla’ is written.
We also found many errors which are not likely to be there in an international media house. The newspaper has no proper articles but random cutout images of few other newspaper clips in other languages. Also there is no proper format and proportions of fonts and images.
Apart from this, the viral newspaper clip carries news of a boy who asked for half day leave to the school principal saying that he had died. Upon searching, we found the same news uploaded on a Facebook account in 2020.
Further, we found the real New York Times 15 March 2024 edition. We found that this clip is completely different from the viral newspaper clip
