After farmers’ leaders rejected the Center's proposal of buying 5 crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), they resumed the Delhi Chalo protest. Against this backdrop, an image of Rakesh Tikait with Chitra Tripathi and Anjana Om Kashyap riding on a tractor is going viral on social media.

Social media users are sharing the image of Chitra Tripathi and Anjana Om Kashyap with Rakesh Tikait in context of the current farmer’s protest.

However, Fact Crescendo found that this is an old image from the 2021 farmers’ protest and not of the ongoing protest.

Fact Check-

A relevant keyword search led us to a video uploaded on Facebook in 2021 on Aaj Tak’s account. The caption reads, “Chaudhary Rakesh Tikait’s interview on a tractor”

The similar video was also uploaded on Aaj Tak’s official YouTube channel on 15 February 2021. This interview was done on the 82nd day of the farmers’ protest that was held in 2021. On that occasion BKU leader Rakesh Tikait had a conversation with Aaj Tak. Speaking on the riot that took place on 26 January 2021, Rakesh Tikait had said that that day goons used the batons and not the police. He also mentioned that the government did not send any proposal to the farmers. You can see the video below.

We also found that both the News anchors and Rakesh Tikait are wearing the same attire in the above video and in the viral image. The tractor used in both the cases are also the same. Below you can see the comparison.

Fact Crescendo found that an old image of Anjana Om Kashyap and Chitra Tripathi interviewing Rakesh Tikait in 2021 during farmers’ protest went viral as an incident during the current protest.
