Is The Woman Dancing In The Video Vyjayanti Mala? Know the truth.
The woman in the video is not Bollywood actress Vyjayanthimala,viral video is edited. In original video an old lady is dancing on Hindi song.
A video of an elderly woman dancing rapidly went viral on social media in the name of Bollywood actress Vyjayanthi Mala, in which an elderly woman can be seen dancing. And some women are seen handling her from behind.
The video is being shared with the claim that actress Vyjayanthimala is dancing at the age of 99. The caption reads “Difficult to believe she is Vaijayanthimala….. She was all grace, an excellent dancer….. OLD AGE CAN BE RUTHLESS, BUT WE ALL CAN DEFEAT IT BY AGEING GRACEFULLY….At 99 she can still dance, MAY THE ALMIGHTY GIVE HER MANY MANY MORE GRACEFUL YEARS”..
Fact Check
We began our investigation using reverse image search with the key frames of the video and the results led us to a report published by ABP Live on 6 December 2022.
According to the report the age of the elderly woman seen in the video is 93 years. In the video, Dadi is dancing to Bollywood veteran Shammi Kapoor's song ' Badan Pe Sitaare Lapate Huye
Nowhere in the report has it been mentioned that the elderly woman seen in the video is Bollywood actress Vyjayanthi Mala.
Other reports can also be read here and here. In these published news, a Twitter account named Narendra Singh has been mentioned. According to which this video was first posted there. We checked Narendra Singh's tweet, in which it was written - "At the age of 93, Shammi Kapoor's magic on grandmother...". Narendra Singh tweeted on 5 December 2022. Nowhere in the published reports has it been said that the grandmother seen in the video is Vyjayanthimala.
Apart from this, the tweet shows that the video of the elderly woman's dance is edited. In the original video, the old lady is dancing on a Hindi song. See analysis here.
In further investigation, we searched about Bollywood actress Vyjayanthi Mala and we found some recent news published about her. In which she does not look like the woman seen in the viral video. You can read the news here , here and here .
Apart from this, BJP leader and actress Khushboo Sundar has also tweeted her photo with Vyjayanthimala on 21 November 2022.
When we searched for the latest videos of actress Vyjayanthi Mala, we found a dance video of Vyjayanthi Mala published two months ago. She was dancing at a program called Kala Samprekshana organized at Chennai Kalakshetra on 22 December 2022. Vyjayanthimala's dance can be seen at 2 minutes 47 seconds of the video.
We analyzed the photographs of the elderly woman seen in the viral video with and actress Vyjayanthimala. You can see a comparison below.
Conclusion -
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. After fact-checking, we found that the woman in the viral video is not Bollywood actress Vyjayanthimala. The video is being viral with a false claim.
