An image has gone viral on social media, alleging that Palestinian children are being held in an Israeli prison. Many internet users have criticized Israel for its treatment of children. The picture shows a few children standing behind metallic bars is being circulated on social media with the caption that “Palestinian kids placed in cages by cruel, belligerent Israel”

Fact Check-

Using a reverse image search, we discovered a bigger version of the image in issue on the European Pressphoto Agency's website. (EPA). The open end of the metallic structure behind which the children were standing can be seen in this version of the picture. A young girl is also seen standing outside this building, holding a green bucket.

The description along with the image reads, “Palestinian children wait to receive food, donated by the Islamic endowment authority Islamic waqf, at a soup kitchen in the West Bank city of Hebron August 18, 2010”. The photo was credited to EPA photographer Abed Al Hashlamoun.

In further search we discovered a different shot taken from the other side of the metallic structure on the stock image site, Alamy. This photograph was shot during Ramadan in 2013 and was uploaded on July 11, 2013. Children can be seen waiting outside the metallic structure with buckets in this picture as well.

We also came across similar pictures of children standing in line at the same spot, which were posted around the same time by Reuters. According to Reuters, the photos were shot on August 12, 2010, the second day of Ramadan.

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral image to be Misleading. The original image shows Palestinian children waiting for food at a soup kitchen in the West Bank city of Hebron, Palestine.
