A disturbing video of a woman being brutally attacked by a man is going viral on social media with a communal claim that it shows a Muslim man mercilessly beating his Hindu girlfriend.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a keyword and reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a report published in 2022. According to the news website Tnp.Straitstimes, the man was beating his sister for leaving their sick mother at home and going to meet her boyfriend. The incident took place in a shopping centre in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. The report also included a Twitter post with the video shared on 30 October, 2022.

 The report also mentioned that the Kota Kinabalu District Police issued a statement in October 2022 regarding the viral video, stating that they had not received any complaints or information about the incident. However, the police are conducting an investigation into the viral video. 

Taking account of these evidences, we can understand that the video is old, dating back to 2022, and originates from Malaysia is being shared with a false communal angle.
