Video from Bangladesh viral as a foreigner was harassed by Muslims in India

A video of a lady travelling in a cycle rickshaw being harassed by a few children is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that the lady is a foreign tourist visiting India but harassed by the Muslims in the country.

However, Fact Crescendo found that the video was shared without proper context. This is an incident from Bangladesh and not India. The lady in the video is actress Mishti Subas and a supporter of Sheikh Hasina.

What’s the claim?

Sharing the video, a social media user wrote, “You just think. These Jihadis are even not sparing foreigners. What image of the country will this lady take back with her?“

Fact Check-

At the beginning of the video, we noticed that one of the vehicles on the road is carrying a registration number written in Bengali and at the same time it does not seem to be an Indian registration plate. Below you can see the image.

A Google Reverse Image Search on a keyframe led us to the same video posted by Times Now News on Facebook on October 1, 2024. According to the information, the lady in the video is actress Mishti Subas, a supporter of Sheikh Hasina. She was harassed for celebrating Sheikh Hasina’s birthday by cutting cake in Bangladesh.

According to another report, Bangladesh witnessed political instability and riots, with massive protests against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The protesters even attacked Sheikh Hasina’s house, forcing her to flee the country. In this tense atmosphere, actress Mishti Subas cut a cake in public on the occasion of Sheikh Hasina’s birthday. This incident infuriated Sheikh Hasina’s opponents, and they harassed her in the public.

We also found a longer version of the viral video on a YouTube Channel called Ittefaq Digital. in this video, Mishti Subas can be seen cutting a cake in front of media and public. The children surrounding her started to tease and harass her. She can also be heard speaking fluent Bangla language. After cutting the cake, she sat on a rickshaw but children continued heckling and harassing her.
