An image showing an exploded iPhone is going viral on social media with the claim that an iPhone has exploded in Lebanon along with the recent blast of other electronic devices. The caption states, “iPhones exploding in #Lebanon blowing up random people”.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a report by the Egyptian outlet Cairo 24 published on 19 March 2021.According to the report, the image shows an iPhone explosion that caused severe injuries, including a broken arm to a kid. The incident had taken place in Maadi, Egypt.

The report further states that a child named Hamza from Al Maadi, Egypt, suffered a broken arm while attempting to escape a fire that broke out after an iPhone exploded while it was charging. Following the incident, the father filed a police report, accusing the iPhone company of negligence, stating that the phone was less than a month old.

Moving forward, we found an article in an Arabic website named nabd.com published on 20 March 2021 with the same details. It states a child was injured due to iPhone explosion in Maadi, Cairo.
