Gas station explosion in Yemen shared as Hezbollah’s attack in Haifa

A video of a massive explosion is going viral on social media with the claim that it shows fire in Haifa following Hezbollah’s recent strikes on Israel. The caption of the post states, “Haifa is burning of Hizballah attack”.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on YouTube on 31 August, 2024 with a caption, “Deadly gas station explosion rocks Aden, Yemen”. The description part states that “Loud explosions shook Aden, Yemen, overnight, with a major blast occurring at a gas station in the southern city. The explosion ignited a large fire, claiming the lives of at least five people and injuring 13 others. The cause of the blast remains unknown”.

Moving forward, we found news reports from August 2024 citing that “At least five people have died and ten others have been injured in a fire that broke out after a massive explosion at a gas station in the southwestern city of Aden”.

As per the reports, the explosion occurred on Al-Taseen Street in the Mansoura district, following a fire at the gas station. The blast was so powerful that it could be heard across various parts of the city. The explosion took place in a densely populated area and on a busy street, leading to several fatalities and injuries. The exact number of victims is still unknown, and the cause of the incident remains unclear at this time.

Thus, taking account of all these evidences, we can understand that a video of a gas station explosion in Yemen falsely shared linking to Israel-Lebanon conflict.

Conclusion- 

Fact crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. This viral video shows a gas station explosion in Yemen., It has no link to Israel- Lebanon conflict.
