Old Video Of Hassan Nasrallah Going Viral Linking With The Ongoing Hezbollah- Israel Conflict.

A video of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah sobbing went viral on social media, linking it with the recent pager and walkie-talkie explosions in Lebanon. Sharing the video on social media, users are claiming that Hassan Nasrallah was crying after losing his comrades in the explosions. A Facebook user shared the video with the caption, “Hezbollah terrorist commander Nasrallah was laughing on 7th October when innocent Israelis were been murdered by Hamas Terrorist.

Today, he is crying after losing 100s of his commanders to pager blasts. Even his own life is in danger”.

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the video is old and not related to the current conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook post that had a little longer version of the viral video. The video was uploaded on 12 August 2022 and the caption was written in Urdu.

Translation of the caption into English read, “Even the strongest and strongest person in Shiism weeps over the sufferings of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him). This is the strength of Shiism. May Allah make us a man of al-Bakin Ali”

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and not related to the recent pager and walkie-talkie explosions.

Moving forward, we found a video uploaded on a YouTube channel on 12 August 2022. From the timestamp 3:10 of the video, the viral clip could be seen. According to the caption of the video, Hassan Nasrallah was crying while talking about the tragedy of the Master of Martyrs. (In Islam, Imam Hussain is known as the Master of Martyrs.)

“2022” could be seen written on the backdrop of the video.

We found the video on another YouTube channel, too.

Further, we found a report where the attached image was similar to the screenshots from the viral video. According to the report, Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech on the left night of Ashura.

Another report read, “A video of Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah bursting into tears during a speech on the occasion of Ashura has spread on social media, due to his intense emotion while talking about Imam Hussein…”  This report, too, had an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video attached to it.

From this, it’s clear that the viral video is from 2022, and it has nothing to do with the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The video of Hassan Nasrallah crying is from 2022 while he was talking about Imam Hussain on the last day of Ashura. This has no link with the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
